Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Services
Physical therapy services at Active Edge Physical Therapy are cutting edge and evidence-based. Physical therapy and rehabilitation services are provided by physical therapists licensed with the State of Oregon. Therapy services will be in accordance with state law and the guidelines of the Oregon and American Physical Therapy Associations. Treatment will be based on medical necessity with a referral from a physician. Direct Access, an option based on your specific insurance, also allows for self-referral to physical therapy with therapy for sixty days prior to follow-up with a physician.
In keeping with the guidelines of the Guide to Physical Therapy Practice published by the APTA, patients will receive services including an Evaluation, Assessment and Treatment Plan. Upon completion of the Initial Evaluation the patient will have a physical therapy diagnosis and will have functional goals in place to direct physical therapy intervention. Therapeutic interventions may include a combination of manual treatments, physical exercise, patient education and physical modalities directed toward correcting the patient’s physical limitations. Patient progress will be reassessed throughout therapy with physical testing of impairments, functional abilities and with self-report outcome questionnaires (see Outcome Questionnaires in the Supporting Documents Appendix).
Injury Prevention & Performance Programs
Golfer’s Edge
The Golfer’s Edge program is designed to help golfers improve their game and prevent injuries. The program consists of three sessions with therapist Dan Morlan including: (1) Video Analysis and assessment of the golf swing; (2) Orthopedic Testing and Review of the Video Analysis; (3) Review of personalized Golfer’s Edge Exercise and Flexibility Program. Optional ongoing training and physical therapy treatment may be provided based on the findings of the Golfer’s Edge Assessment. Runner's Edge
The Runner’s Edge program is designed to help runner’s improve their performance and avoid injuries. The program consists of three sessions with Dan Morlan including (1) Running Video Analysis with Orthopedic Assessment; (2) Review of Video Analysis and Education on Running Injury Prevention; (3) Review of personalized Runner’s Edge Exercise and Flexibility Program. Athlete’s Edge
The Athlete’s Edge program is a unique approach to bioergonomic assessment of an athlete’s preparation for a specific sport. The program includes an orthopedic assessment of the athlete with consideration of the biomechanical and physiologic requirements of their sport. The most common sports include soccer, basketball, tennis, football, baseball and lacrosse. The program consists of two sessions with therapist Dan Morlan including: (1) Sports-specific Functional Assessment and Orthopedic Assessment; (2) Review of Athlete’s Edge Exercise Program. The program will include exercises and stretches to address possible sources of injury and to improve athletic performance. Ongoing training and/or physical therapy interventions may be provided based on the findings of the Athlete’s Edge Assessment.
Pitcher's Edge
Pitcher’s Edge is a therapy-based program designed to decrease the likelihood of suffering shoulder and elbow injuries while improving pitching performance. The testing and interventions are based on the latest research in sports medicine. >> More info...
ACL Prevention Program
The ACL prevention program was designed by physical therapist Dan Morlan based on the latest research in the area of ACL injury and rehabilitation. The program is designed to help athletes avoid the traumatic experience of an ACL tear and the painstaking recovery that follows. The program consists of two sessions including: (1) Orthopedic and Functional Assessment of the athlete with a view to assessing presence of predisposing factors for ACL tears; (2) Education of the mechanism of ACL tears and how to avoid the predisposing factors that lead to ACL tear as well as review of a personalized ACL Prevention Program. Ongoing training and/or physical therapy interventions may be provided based on the findings of the ACL Prevention Assessment.
Sport-specific Personal Training
As a former personal trainer and with the advanced training knowledge gained with physical therapy education, Dan is the ideal partner for achieving your fitness and athletic goals. He specializes in sports performance and injury prevention as well as achievement of a healthy and active lifestyle. Personal training will be focused towards your individual goals and will incorporate functional training and injury prevention components based on the findings of an initial Functional and Orthopedic Assessment. Individual and group Personal training is available as single sessions and as packages.
